Dr. Onki Cheung is a board-certified gastroenterologist who focuses on liver disease and takes a comprehensive approach to treating various gastrointestinal issues. Fluent in both English and Cantonese, Dr. Cheung values effective communication and patient education, ensuring that her patients understand their medical conditions and treatments.

Her path to gastroenterology was motivated by a desire to balance cognitive challenges with procedural activities, as well as the diversity of conditions she encounters in her practice. After a thorough gathering of a patient’s medical history and physical examination, she utilizes diagnostic tests tailored to the specific symptoms and findings presented. Based on her diagnoses, Dr. Cheung creates personalized treatment plans that prioritize the patient’s needs and best interests.

Dr. Cheung completed her medical fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and her residency at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Upstate Medical University and holds an undergraduate degree from Stony Brook University.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Cheung enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends and engaging in outdoor activities like hiking and gardening.
