About Aris Tsiakos, M.D.

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

Gastroenterology is a very broad field that stretches the 30 feet (from mouth to anus) of the GI system, along with the liver, gallbladder and pancreas. This variety is what drew me to a career in GI. I can have 10 patients in a day that each have a different GI issue, and this makes Gastroenterology challenging and exciting. There is always something new to learn and offer patients.

Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?

I practice General Gastroenterology and diagnosis and treating GERD, celiac Sprue, gallbladder issues, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), various liver diseases and IBS. I perform Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, ERCP and Pill Capsule Studies.

Where did you study?

Medical School: State University of New York at Stony Brook, Internal Medicine Residency: St. Vincent’s Hospital, Gastroenterology Fellowship: Scott and White Hospital.

What certifications do you hold?

Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

My wife and I are blessed to have two young sons. Our lives outside of work revolve around our boys. We spend most of our time at school activities and on sports fields. When time permits, we also love traveling as a family.

Do you have any special honors or recognition in your medical career that you would like to share?

Recipient of the Silver Bullet Award at Scott and White Hospital Gastroenterology Department.

Do you fluently speak any other languages in addition to English?

Spanish and Greek.
