Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

I was first very interested in general surgery as a medical student and after rotating through different subspecialty fields I noted that I enjoyed talking to the GI attendants about what being a gastroenterologist involved. This led me to pursue applying for fellowship in Gastroenterology as a resident.

Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?

Liver disease, Colorectal cancer screening, Anorectal diseases Obesity, Gallstones and common bile duct stones, Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, Esophageal reflux disease, Single balloon enteroscopy, Esophageal manometry, Capsule M2A enteroscopy and CRH hemorrhoidal Band ligation

Undergrad: University of California Los Angeles, Medical School: Rosalind Franklin/The Chicago Medical School, Internship, Residency and Fellowship: University of Southern California.

What certifications do you hold?

Board Certified in Gastroenterology.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

Cooking, baking and grilling with my three children.Watching and rooting for University of Southern California football.

Do you have any special honors or recognitions in your medical career that you would like to share?

Resident of the Year at LAC-USC Medical Center in 1996, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and Top Doctor in Denton County.
