About Christopher Ramos, M.D.

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

The diseases in gastroenterology really impact the lives of many people. I wanted the ability to hear a person’s concern, diagnose the problem, and have the opportunity to see them through a treatment plan. In addition, I enjoy the procedural aspect of GI and the challenges that it brings. It gives us yet another avenue to improve the lives of our patients.

Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?

While I practice clinical general gastroenterology, one of my other focuses is healthcare economics/operations. I’ve worked on many projects that look to improve the quality of the care we provide to our patients by studying and implementing operational changes to how we practice medicine.

Where did you study?

I did my undergraduate studies at Princeton University and went on to complete both medical school and business school at Columbia University in New York City, where I received my MD/MBA. I remained at Columbia University in order to complete my internship, residency and fellowship.

What certifications do you hold?

I am board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

I am a big football and basketball fan and love going to games. I also enjoy playing basketball and routinely play in city leagues.

Do you have any special honors or recognitions in your medical career that you would like to share?

I was a speaker at Digestive Disease Week in 2015. I also was a recipient of the Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award and an inductee into the Gold Foundation Humanism Honor Society. I have also received the Spirit of Princeton Award.

Do you fluently speak any other languages in addition to English?

I am fluent in Spanish and am comfortable with conversational French.
