Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
I have always been amazed by the human body and its complexity, especially the gastrointestinal system. During my medical training I was exposed early to the specialty and was always impressed by the ability of gastroenterologist to not only medically treat disorders but also perform lifesaving procedures. The opportunity to develop a connection with a patient and to have different tools to treat them is the reason why I choose this specialty.
Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?
I have a special interest in liver disorders such as autoimmune hepatitis, PBC/PSC, Non-alcoholic Fatty liver Disease (NAFLD) and overall management of patients with cirrhosis.
Do you fluently speak any other languages in addition to English?
Spanish
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
We enjoy spending time outdoor, visiting museums and movie nights. When I have some free time, I enjoy going for a run, playing golf and work on my classic Ford Mustang.
