About Amirah N. Khan, M.D.
Amirah N. Khan, M.D. is a General Gastroenterologist board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology interested in treating a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biological engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and went on to University of Florida for medical school. Afterward she completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and then completed her Gastroenterology Fellowship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She believes that communication and education are key to developing rapport with patients. Specific clinical interests include gastroesophageal reflux, fatty liver, hepatitis C, hepatitis B, cirrhosis, autoimmune hepatitis, Celiac disease, diverticulitis, eosinophilic esophagitis, irritable bowel syndrome, microscopic colitis, hemochromatosis, and inflammatory bowel disease. She is also skilled at performance of upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and percutaneous gastrostomy tube placement. Outside of work she is an avid cook and enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and son. Language spoken include English and Spanish.
