About Bhavani Moparty, M.D.

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

I chose this field due to the diversity of gastrointestinal conditions we diagnose, prevent and treat. I am in a field where I can provide preventive health care by advocating diet, lifestyle and procedures that are beneficial for patient health. I enjoy the daily interactions with patients and being part of TDDC where I can provide my patient with cost-effective, current procedures and treatment.

Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?

I enjoy all aspects of gastroenterology but have special interests in colorectal cancer screening and women’s health. I also have a particular interest in gastrointestinal oncology, with an emphasis on endoscopic ultrasound for staging and diagnosis of esophageal, gastric and pancreatic cancer; and also for the evaluation of pancreas cysts, GI sub-epithelial and mediastinal lesions.

Where did you study?

I grew up in central Louisiana and graduated from Tulane Medical School. I completed my internal medicine residency at Rush Presbyterian/St Luke’s hospital in Chicago and then finished my gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. I subsequently received an additional year of formal training in EUS, ERCP and advanced therapeutic procedures at the combined Massachusetts General/Brigham & Women’s Harvard program.

What certifications do you hold?

Board Certified in Gastroenterology.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

We enjoy traveling, cooking, attending sporting events and spending time with our family.

Do you have any special honors or recognitions in your medical career that you would like to share?
