Dr. Brett Hymel is a board certified Gastroenterologist with Metropolitan Gastroenterology/GI Alliance. He performs routine GI procedures such as EGD and colonoscopy, in addition to an array of advanced/therapeutic procedures such as ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, liver biopsy, hemorrhoidal banding/ablation, HALO therapy for Barrett’s Esophagus, Stretta treatment for reflux disease, endoscopic resection of large colon/stomach/intestinal polyps/lesions, celiac plexus nerve blocks, among others. Dr. Hymel is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and The American Gastroenterology Association.

Gastroenterology is a diverse field offering both non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as well as the maintenance of long term relationships with many of our patients.
Do you have a specialty of interest in Gastroenterology?
Pancreatobiliary disease and Endoscopic mucosal resection of large intestinal lesions/polyps.
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with family, including dining out, traveling, worshiping.

Doctor Brett Hymel was very good with explaining all possibilities and also taking the time to answer all your questions. I wasn't very pleased with his nurse. Doctor Hymel told me he was going to have his nurse to give me some paperwork for samples that needed to be taking from a lab,and that she would go over everything with me. The nurse handed me paperwork and I asked her where did I need to go and where do I get the kit from. I actually ask her afew questions. All she would say is I don't know , you would just have to figure that one out cause I have no idea.
Dr Hymel is very caring and compassionate. He carefully listens to all of your concerns. I know I couldn’t ask for a better advocate for my continued good health.

I’m so grateful to Dr. Hymel and his team. I have suffered repeatedly with this condition for 7 years. No one has been able to find the cause. Dr. Hymel had the answer and the solution 5 minutes after meeting me. His nurse was very knowledgeable and patient when explaining the next steps to me. Thank you all so much.

Dr. Brett Hymel is my Gastro Doctor. I had a life altering event dealing with my digestive system, which changed my life by 180 degrees. There are many choices for Doctors and I just so happened to get assigned Dr. Hymel. Truly, I feel most fortunate to be under his continued care and rely on diagnosis and procedure's performed. Entire surgical krewe were amazing. Stacey took excellent care of me with charm and compassion. Dr. Hymel treated me with dignity and gave me a thorough explanation of all I needed to know. Everyone was truly lovely.
