About Carl Calandra, D.O.
Dr. Calandra received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1995 and his medical degree from Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center in 2001. At Loyola University Medical Center, Dr. Calandra completed his residency in internal medicine in 2004, followed by his fellowship in gastroenterology in 2007. He then joined Digestive Disease Associates in Hinsdale the same year. He is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association.

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
Gastroenterology allowed me to pursue my academic interest in order to take care of my patients in a variety of health care settings for a variety of medical problems.
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy running, cooking, and coaching you kids in a variety of sports.

Dr Carl Calandra is one of the best doctors I have ever met. He actually truly cares, listens, treats patients with unbelievable respect and understanding. I am chronically ill and deal with top medical hospital systems in the City and across the country. I honestly feel he is one of the best I have worked with. Not only him, but the staff is excellent and dealt with all of our insurance issues and we didn’t have to do anything. They are fast, reliable and very impressed with the medical attention and compassion he has as a doctor.

Dr Calandra and his staff are 10 stars. The prep staff i give 2 stars. My wait and the communication about when i go in was very drawn out. i was told i was going in right away because someone cancelled. 2 hours later im still waiting. Then they told me they were only 30 minutes late when it was over an hour. But why tell me to come in early???

Been going to Dr. Calandra for a long time now. I have a strong family history of colon cancer. I find his staff very friendly and supportive. Dr. Calandra has a great bedside manner and very approachable. That is hard to find with a doctor of his expertise. I would recommend this facility highly.
