About Craig Womeldorph, D.O.

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

I had a wonderful experience during my clinical years in medical school working with a Gastroenterologist. Compared to other rotations it was an ideal blend of procedures, inpatient medicine, outpatient clinic, and research (he was an AI on the early phase III trial of Prevacid). I loved the complexity of the patients and with endoscopy being both able to diagnosis and treat my patients.

Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?

My main interest is advanced procedures such as EUS, ERCP, RFA, Endostitch, and EMR focusing heavily on therapeutics in the pancreas, biliary system, and early GI cancers.

Where did you study?

Undergrad: Oklahoma State University-Bachelor in Chem Engineering
Medical School: Oklahoma State College of Osteopathic medicine
Residency: National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) in Bethesda, Md
Fellowship: National Capitol Consortium at NNMC and Walter Reed Army Med Center
Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship: University of Michigan

What certifications do you hold?

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

With 5 children my spare time is heavily invested in my kids extra-curricular activities to include competitive gymnastics for the girls and Golf/Soccer for the boys. I enjoy running and golf when I can find the time. As a family we enjoy pizza night and going to the movies when time allows.

Do you have any special honors or recognition in your medical career that you would like to share?
