Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

Gastroenterology combines technology and medicine allowing the physician to directly visualize and treat their patient. This combination of medicine and procedures aligned with my passion for technology and interests, which made it a perfect fit for me. I was able to not only maintain a great personal relationship with my patients, but also have a hands-on approach to managing them. The advancement in the field and finding new ways to treat and prevent disease keep me engaged and enthusiastic to practice gastroenterology.

Do you have a specialty of interest in Gastroenterology?

While I am passionate about the entire field, the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of colon cancer interests me greatly. My other interests in the field include endoscopy of the upper GI tract, treatment of reflux, IBS and management of Barrett’s esophagus. In managing these, I can also counsel my patients about maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle, as I find helping my patients with fitness and maintaining a healthy balance fulfilling.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

In my spare time I enjoy sports, weight lifting, reading, biking, playing basketball, eating, traveling, hiking and spending time with my family and friends.

Do you fluently speak any other languages in addition to English?

Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Spanish
