About Lyle Hurwitz, M.D.

Dr Hurwitz was born and raised in Johannesburg South Africa. He graduated from medical school from The university of Pretoria in South Africa. He completed Internal Medicine Residency at the Carney Hospital (affiliated to Boston University) and then moved to sunny south Florida and completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital /University of Miami. He is board certified in gastroenterology and has been practicing in Palm Beach for almost 20 years.

He was drawn to Gastroenterology as it combines both the intellectual, cognitive aspect with the procedure (endoscopy) aspect of medicine. He has performed over 15000 procedures including upper endoscopycolonoscopy and ERCP.

Dr Hurwitz strives to provide the highest quality medical care in a nurturing environment. “ My secret for caring for my patients is caring about my patients,” says Dr Hurwitz

He has been involved in numerous research projects including studies on colorectal cancer screening, gastroesophageal reflux diseaseirritable bowel, diverticulitis, clostridium difficile and hepatitis C.

He enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, traveling, reading, cycling, and running.
