About Sohaib Faruqi, M.D.
Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
I became interested in gastroenterology during my internship and residency years. The broad spectrum which this field encompasses, fascinated me greatly. I was intrigued by the diagnostic and therapeutic processes involved in this field, which I feel offer a tremendous opportunity for growth, not only as a professional, but also as a human being. I derive great personal satisfaction from the thoughts that I am able to help a fellow human being, while at the same time pursuing a challenging and rewarding career.
Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?
I am board-certified in gastroenterology and specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of various gastrointestinal disorders including diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, liver gall bladder and pancreas. I have expertise in various endoscopic procedures, such as upper GI endoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and capsule endoscopy.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
I play Racquetball and Squash, enjoy listening to music, and love to travel.
