About Sonia Abichandani, M.D.
Joining Cary Gastroenterology in 2022, Dr. Sonia Abichandani is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. She is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Education
Dr. Abichandani is a graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. She received her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Abichandani completed her Internal Medicine residency and went on to serve as the Ambulatory Chief Resident at University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. She then completed her Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at University of North Carolina, NC, and served as the Chief Fellow from 2021-2022. She has a special interest in women’s GI health and anorectal disorders.

My wife had an appointment today that she was super nervous for, the doctors were kind and talked her through the whole process. They also explained stuff that previous providers hadn't!! 10/10 !!

Dr. A is amazing! Very easy to talk to given how GI appointments can be a bit nerve wracking, she made me very comfortable and I’m appreciative! She was willing to answer any questions I had and her team was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Really appreciate this medical group getting me in so quickly as a new patient. So many GI groups won’t pick up their phones or respond to online appointment requests. The Dr was kind and listened to my history. I felt heard and not dismissed. While there they were able to pull my recent CT scan results and also arranged to get my colonoscopy/endoscopy results from previous Dr. Definitely an excellent medical experience.
