Why Gastroenterology?
The field of gastroenterology encompasses many, complex bodily systems, and disease of these systems effect millions of Americans every day. These were two driving factors in my pursuit to become a gastroenterologist as I knew I wanted to be challenged and I also wanted to be able to care for a large and diverse patient population. Additionally, I have always enjoyed using my hands and doing procedures. As a gastroenterologist I am able to not only care for very sick and complex patients, but I am also able to make a difference in their lives by performing procedures which can alleviate symptoms and prolong life, such as helping to prevent colon and esophageal cancer, successfully treating inflammatory bowel disease, and diagnosing and treated gastrointestinal bleeding, among other things.
What Can Patients Expect?
During a visit to my office patients should expect a friendly and efficient visit. My number one goal is to listen and develop a patient-centered care plan with the patient being a major part of that decision making team. When a patient leaves my office my hope is that they felt they were listened to and had a significant say in the plan that was created and agreed upon.

Front office staff are always kind, helpful and friendly. I wemt to see Dr Hansen after my previous GI wouldn't help me any further. Dr Hansen didn't bat and eye at tests and further investigation. He has not given up on helping me. I also find his nurse, Devin extremely helpful. She always goes over everything with you. You can message her in the portal and she gets back quickly. If she doesn't know she tells you she's going to talk with Dr Hansen and get back to you and she always does.
Absolutely blown away by the service I received. Although it took weeks to receive a call, the staff was amazing. I requested to be put on the cancellation list and I was quickly moved up from a November appointment to the next day appointment. The front desk was AMAZING!! One lady in particular was so warm and welcoming the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. She offered me many options. Her smile was the first impression and it set the tone for the whole appointment. Dr. Hansens nurse has gone above and beyond for me and listened to everything I had to say prior to the Dr. coming in. And Dr. Hansen came in ready to hear my concerns, provide me with solutions and get me on the right track. I would recommend this team over and over again!! Although my journey just started with Dr. Hansen I have gotten a little more peace of mind from one appointment.
Did you get me some more stomach medicine because they worked on my stomach and what day do I need come to hospital to check on my stomach

Excellent doctor and staff! Dr. Hanson is very thorough… he listens, he made me feel like he understands what I’m going through. He offered lots of solutions. His staff was very helpful in getting the medication’s and keeping in contact with me about how I was feeling.
