About Sushil Duddempudi, M.D.
Dr. Duddempudi began his exposure into medicine early, coming from a long line of physicians. He completed his undergraduate and medical studies at Tufts University in Boston and UWI. He then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Rutgers University School of Medicine. Following residency training, Dr. Duddempudi pursued a gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital – The Brooklyn Hospital Center. During his final year of fellowship he was elected Chief Gastroenterology Fellow by the faculty. Dr. Duddempudi went on to complete interventional endoscopy fellowship at the prestigious Pancreas and Biliary Center of New York at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. He gained expertise in ERCP, EUS, endoscopic mucosal resection and various other interventional endoscopic modalities. He had the privilege to train under Drs. Jerome Seigel and Franklin Kasmin.
Prior to joining Austin Gastroenterology he was in private practice in Brooklyn, NY. Additionally, he was the Associate Program Director for the Gastroenterology Fellowship and the Director of Endoscopy at the Brooklyn Hospital Center affiliated with Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. While in New York City, Dr. Duddempudi was named a “Top Doctor ” as well as a “Best Doctor” in the Best Doctors in America database.
Dr. Duddempudi’s professional interests include colon cancer prevention and screening, fatty liver disease, irritable bowel syndrome, ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, enteral stent placement, feeding tube placement, endoscopic mucosal resction, large polyp removal and procedural innovation.
Dr. Duddempudi has published extensively in peer reviewed medical journals as well as being an editor for numerous journals. He regularly consults for medical device manufacturers on product design and development including Interscope Medical on a novel endoscopic mucosal resection device and Boston Scientific on endoscopic hemostasis.
