About Tanya Evans, M.D.

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

Every patient deserves a physician passionate about what they do. I chose gastroenterology because I find the digestive system fascinating. Gastroenterology is complex and encompasses a diverse spectrum of ailments. This affords me the opportunity to partner with patients to develop individualized health solutions.

Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?

Colorectal cancer screening, women’s health, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

Where did you study?

For undergraduate, I studied biomedical engineering at Southern Methodist University. In 2005, I graduated from University of Texas Southwestern medical school. I then completed my residency training at Texas A&M – Scott & White in 2008. Following this, I completed my fellowship training in gastroenterology at Baylor University Medical Center in 2012.

What certifications do you hold?

I am Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

With my family, I enjoy attending live city events. Additionally, I like canvas painting and interior design.

Do you have any special honors or recognitions in your medical career that you would like to share?

I served as Chief Resident and Instructor at Texas A&M – Scott & White following residency. I am a published author and am involved with national professional society committee work. In recent years, I have been selected to the Super Doctors list as published in Texas Monthly.
